We have officially hit the “holiday season,” and I love it! I have so many fun posts I’m excited to share with you, but first: Our Thanksgiving Menu!
We decided to celebrate our Thanksgiving a little early and had a group of friends over on Sunday! We don’t have family super close, and this is kind of the busy season while Chris is in school and we both work for churches. Cooking for a group of people while we are so busy- not to mention, with a crazy toddler- seemed a little stressful. But I love hosting and having people over, so we kept it simple and easy! I cooked a few things, but our dinner was largely made up of the yummy things everyone else brought!
My friends shared their recipes, and I will share them all with you in case y’all need some last-minute inspiration! Most of them (myself included) made small tweaks to the recipes, so I’ll share those in the notes as well. Enjoy!
Our Menu:
Starters:
Main Dishes:
- Roast Turkey with Orange and Sage
- Roasted Carrots with Honey and Garlic
- Mashed Potatoes (I used a mix of yukon gold and red, skins on. Season as desired, but I used vegan butter and vegetable stock).
- “Ordinary” Corn (I’ve always called it this.. One year when I was really little, my mom made creamed corn, and I was like, “No, no, no. Where’s the ordinary corn??” And it just sort of stuck. I have it for the sole purpose of mixing with my mashed potatoes).
- Cranberry Sauce (subbed grapefruit for the orange. Sort of an accident, but it turned out to be a really great one! So good!)
- Green Bean Casserole
- Roasted Brussels Sprouts
- Baked Macaroni and Cheese (Olivia made this, but added broccoli and used soy milk and vegan butter)
- Butternut Squash and Kale Salad (leave out the nuts and cheese, or have them on the side for GF, DF, NF)
- Nena Buns
- Winter Fruit Salad with Honey Lime Poppyseed Dressing
Dessert:
And here are a few more recipes that I’ve either made before, or ones that I will be trying out super soon because they look so delicious!
- Pecan Pie Cheesecake
- No-Fail Cranberry Kale Salad (GF/DF)
- Butternut Squash Mac and Cheese
- Upside-down Pear-Gingerbread Cake
- Savory Vegetable Cheese Tart
- Blueberry Crumble Pie
- Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes
- Creamy Green Bean Casserole from Scratch
- Autumn Glow Salad
- Roasted Butternut Squash Risotto
- Cranberry Apple Shaved Brussels Sprouts Salad
